Featured on the Rank Up Report, one of Activision’s COD blogs, some details emerged about the Operator, Sgt. Griggs who will be coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone . Sgt. Griggs had originally made his debut in 2007’s Call of Duty 4, quickly becoming a popular character. The upcoming operator has been teased for a while, as in Season 6 he was mentioned by name by Captain Price. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone iconic characters such as Captain Price and Gaz are already available as unlockable Operators, and now Griggs is finally joining them.
Sgt. Griggs will be making his debut as part of a bundle in the COD store. The new operator will be paired with three blueprint weapons (an AR, SMG, and combat knife) alongside some other items sometime this week. The “Sarge” Griggs skin is being pushed as Activision’s “Operator of the Week.”, featured on the Rank Up Report.
Operator of the Week
This week, we feature one Operator that’s coming into the DZ hot in the coming days: Sgt. Griggs.
Last heard in the Season Six vignette when he was called in by Captain Price, Griggs will be available in a debut bundle that’s dropping next week. You can grab him and his “Sarge” skin, along with three blueprint weapons – one Assault Rifle, one SMG, and a Combat Knife – and six other items in the aptly-named “Sgt. Griggs Operator Bundle.”
As for the Allegiance, we’re showing off Nikolai and his “Carcajou” skin one last time to represent Season Six’s Battle Pass, which you should grab if you haven’t already.
Who is Sgt. Griggs Based On?
The upcoming playable Operator is actually based on Mark Grigsby. Grigsby, who was a former Lead Animator and currently Animation Director at Infinity Ward, lent his likeness and voice to Sgt. Griggs in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
In 2010, Grigsby left Infinity Ward and joined Respawn Entertainment to work on the Titanfall franchise. However in 2017, he rejoined Infinity Ward as the Animation Director and worked on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
